Josh was a very encouraging teacher. However I thought the class was going to be more geared towards learning how to Plein air paint and less on how to watercolor

ARTISTS
Arthur Deatly
Local artist Arthur Deatly, has painted the Gulf coast region for over 20 years in the Plein Air style. Working from direct observation, he has traversed Houston and surrounding areas painting the city, towns and countryside he knows.

A graduate of Kansas City Art Institute in painting in 1981, he has maintained a steady and varied career in the Visual Arts. He has studied and practiced his trade since he left college yet still learn something knew every time he goes out and paints.
Joshua Fraga
Born in Houston, Texas, I've had the benefit of learning many different styles to the art that I do. I'm a "custom artist", meaning that I will do most any project, no matter the specs. I love painting and crafting, but my love lies within art itself. Being to express one's self without words is the crux of everything art is and could be in the future. In my humble opinion, that is one of the best things we can hope for, is to, in a meaningful way, articulate emotion successfully on something other than our own soul... something easily seen by others.
Art is in essence, is in everything we do as human beings. once we know and accept that, it allows for students to surpass their teachers, and become masters of the craft, themselves. That is the true power of art, when harnessed properly, one can master anything...

Artwork was loosely schetched from a Pinterest?&65039 landscape gallery from my phone I started this with a somewhat idea of doing it with a relaxed "hand", not really concerned of the outcome. I literally 'splahed' down the pertinate colors, did sky wet/wet, left the waterfall area dry. Went on with trees, etc. with some wet, some dry. White highlights in waterfall done with thick & thin white gouache.

Title or Location: I did not take the photo. I believe it is a stock photo. I painted this painting as a study painting hair/fur and grass/sky.
I am meeting with a group of artists using watercolor over zoom. They are mostly in VA, but the leader/teacher is in Midland now. We are taking on a project to paint an EPIC painting larger than we are accustomed to in order to stretch ourselves. We decided on the animal/ outdoor ranch/farm theme. I am very new to watercolor so I welcomed the challenge. Since then I had the nerve to paint my cat and dog. It is an enjoyable experience. I'm on to painting a horse now.

This was a fun tutorial I followed trying to interpret the relationship between light and snow. Utlizing blue as the shadowed area on snow was very smart. It transformed 2D into 3D. Architectural perspective is something I?m still struggling with as you can tell from the little hut. Regardless a fun piece to work with.

I am new to watercolor, and I am trying to learn how to paint animals and grass and so I was doing some cow studies and found a photo of this one and decided to do it a little bit larger. I made a trip to a friend?s cattle Ranch, but couldn?t get close enough to the cattle to get good photographs myself, but usually I take my own photographs.

This is a fantasy landscape inspired by old world charm. I gave it the title because of the little grouping near the center of interest looks like a medieval camp when you zoom in on it.
